Under the direction of the Versiti Director Corporate Communications and Public Relations, will be responsible for assisting in the development and execution of proactive internal and external communication programs. This individual will help engage employees by developing creative content that aligns with the organization’s mission, vision, and values, as well as produce and implement creative and innovative communication deliverables to tell the Versiti brand story in support of the growth of Versiti’s external brand presence.

The Corporate Communications Specialist will work in collaboration with cross-affiliate colleagues, as well as other internal stakeholders, to advance enterprise-wide communications strategies. 


  • Creates strategically focused employee communication for multiple channels including electronic newsletters, intranet content, digital media boards and video content.
  •  Proactively identifies  and develops news and feature stories for targeted internal audiences.
  • Creates, executes and distributes press releases to targeted media for Indiana and Michigan
  • Secures and facilitates requests for media interviews; serves as designated media spokesperson on as needed basis; identifies internal subject matter experts; coordinates responses to media and public information requests
  • Develops interview questions, fact sheets, press releases, briefing materials, feature articles for newsletters, magazines and trade publications in alignment with organizational brand messaging.
  • Develops and maintains effective working relationships with internal stakeholders across Versiti.
  • Builds relationships with print and broadcast media, as well as community organizations.
  • Travel required to ensure effective cross location relationships and expressed coverage in Indiana and Michigan.


  • Bachelor’s degree with emphasis in communications, public relations, journalism or related degree required
  • Five + years of experience in public relations, communications or marketing required.
  • Experience with newsletter/email platforms, such as MailChimp.
  • Active knowledge of social media platforms, including Facebook, LinkedIn and YouTube
  • Healthcare experience desirable but not required
  • Exceptional writing and content development skills for a variety of distribution platforms      including print and electronic newsletters, press releases, and web.
  • Excellent oral communication skills.
  • Ability to interpret and transform complex information into remarkable content, customized for a variety of audiences and digital platforms.
  • Ability to develop interview questions and conduct interviews.
  • Media relations skills.  Ability to build strong and effective relationships with local media in   Michigan and Indiana.
  • Ability to incorporate audio, video and graphics into compelling content for multiple platforms
  • Proficiency in HTML and industry standard graphic tools such as Adobe Illustrator; Photoshop, InDesign (for newsletter layout)
  • Exceptional verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently, as well as capable of functioning within a team structure.
  • Must be a self-starter and independent thinker.
  • Knowledge of video production and editing; experience with video and audio editing software a plus.
